Bitfinex Securities announces $50 million raise tied to tokenized nickel

The offering is a financing product tied to an industrial asset, not a direct claim that every token holder owns a bar or coil of nickel. Bitfinex's help-center materials describe ALKN as a digital asset representing tokenized limited-partnership interests.

The asset behind ALKN

Bitfinex says the partnership's principal asset is 7,026,905 linear meters of 99.99%-pure NP1-grade nickel wire. The same first-party materials put the independent valuation at about $1.6 billion and say the inventory is physically held in a secured vault in Lugano, Switzerland.

The nickel is intended for engineered products used in areas including semiconductor, aerospace, defense and power systems. Bitfinex's own tokenized-commodities overview frames the move as an expansion beyond tokenized gold, but it does not replace the offering documents or independently verify the inventory valuation.

Eligibility and trading limits

The ALKN primary subscription is open to eligible investors through Oct. 15, according to the current announcement. Bitfinex's help-center page says the token is available only through Bitfinex Securities, not the Bitfinex exchange, and lists a minimum investment of $120,000.

Secondary trading is not scheduled to begin until at least the next fundraising tranche is complete. The practical change is therefore a new tokenized route for eligible investors to finance an industrial-metal business, with access, liquidity and asset-valuation risks that remain part of the product rather than being solved by the token wrapper.
