Coinbase gets an Abu Dhabi license for tokenized securities

Coinbase says each token will be fully backed by an underlying share under FSRA supervision and will preserve shareholder rights including dividends and votes. That structure differs from synthetic products that only track a stock price and do not give the holder a claim on the share.

The license covers the hub, not universal access

The hub is designed for international offerings from ADGM. Availability will still depend on the investor's jurisdiction, eligibility rules and the terms for each security. Coinbase has not turned every listed U.S. share into a globally available token by receiving this permission.

The launch moves the company beyond crypto trading into regulated issuance, custody and corporate-action handling. The practical test is whether token holders receive dividends and voting instructions reliably while the reserve remains matched to shares held offchain.
