Ethereum roadmap puts privacy and wallet changes on the path to Hegotá
Ethereum's official roadmap separates the next Glamsterdam upgrade from later privacy proposals that could change how wallets handle signatures, gas and private transactions.

Ethereum's official roadmap is separating two ideas that have been bundled together in some recent coverage: Glamsterdam is the next named network upgrade, while several privacy and wallet proposals are being considered for Hegotá, the upgrade planned after it. The Ethereum roadmap currently places Glamsterdam in the second half of 2026 and lists block-level access lists and enshrined proposer-builder separation as its headline changes.
The privacy roadmap says frame transactions, identified as EIP-8141, are being considered for Hegotá. The proposal could let accounts choose signature-verification methods and help privacy tools cover gas costs without exposing the user's address in the same way as a conventional transaction.
What changes for wallets
The privacy work targets several points where wallet users can leak information before or during a transaction. Ethereum's roadmap highlights private reads, private writes and private identity, including the risk that wallet software exposes the addresses and contracts a user is querying to an RPC provider.
Frame transactions could give wallets more flexibility over authentication and fee payment. Other roadmap items, including private information retrieval and shielded pools, are still research or development work rather than features users can switch on in a current wallet.
The gas-limit distinction
The often-cited 21,000-gas figure is the standard intrinsic cost for a basic ETH transfer, not a permanent network-wide gas rule that Ethereum is simply removing. Glamsterdam's scaling work instead concerns block-level access lists, execution capacity and the block gas limit, while wallet-level gas abstraction is tied more directly to account-abstraction and frame-transaction proposals.
That distinction matters because the privacy proposals remain subject to protocol design, testing and inclusion decisions. The roadmap describes them as work under consideration, not as a committed mainnet feature with a final activation date.
