Ripple has raised $275 million in senior notes to support its prime-brokerage business, CoinDesk reported. The offering is described as the first debt issue for Ripple's prime-brokerage arm, Ripple Prime, which serves institutional clients across digital assets and traditional markets.
Ripple's own Prime brokerage page describes the business as a multi-asset platform covering digital assets, foreign exchange, precious metals, derivatives and fixed-income repo. Ripple says the platform clears more than $3 trillion annually and has more than 300 institutional customers; those are company-reported figures, not independently audited metrics in the public materials reviewed here.
Funding a broader institutional stack
The financing adds to Ripple Prime's capital base as the company tries to combine brokerage, custody, settlement and financing in one institutional service. Ripple created the business through its acquisition of Hidden Road and has positioned it as a bridge between crypto-native markets and the systems used for foreign exchange and other asset classes.
Ripple previously announced a $200 million debt facility for Ripple Prime in May. The company has not published the new notes' coupon, maturity, covenants or investor list in the public materials available for this report, so the size of the raise is clearer than its final cost or leverage impact.
What to watch next
The immediate question is whether the new capital translates into more financing capacity for market makers and institutional clients, rather than simply refinancing the existing platform. Ripple's public product materials do not disclose the new notes' proceeds allocation, customer-level volume or profitability.
For now, the report is a financing milestone for a crypto company expanding into market infrastructure. The next useful disclosures would be the debt terms, a filing or offering document, and evidence that Ripple Prime's reported clearing and customer figures are growing with the added balance-sheet capacity.
