Circle puts USDC on Chelsea shirts in major stablecoin sponsorship

The logo is scheduled to appear for the first time on Chelsea's men's shirt when the club hosts Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The partnership gives a dollar-backed stablecoin a prominent position in one of the Premier League's global sports properties.

Visibility, not a new payment product

Circle's release frames the deal as a way to introduce USDC to a global sports audience as stablecoins move toward broader use. Chelsea describes Circle as a digital-evolution partner, but neither announcement sets out a new Chelsea payment service, fan wallet or stablecoin transaction feature.

The distinction matters: the confirmed change is brand distribution through football shirts, not evidence that Chelsea supporters can now pay with USDC or that the club is using the token for settlement.

Commercial terms stay private

Circle and Chelsea did not disclose the financial terms in their announcements. Earlier reports cited by CoinDesk suggested Chelsea had been targeting £65 million a year for the shirt position, but that figure is not the value of this agreement.

For Circle, the measurable near-term asset is reach and familiarity. The business result will depend on whether that visibility leads to sustained use of USDC, rather than only recognition of the logo.
